The Manners & Modesty workshop is a beautifully crafted curriculum designed to inspire young women to follow Jesus in every area of their lives. Karen and Sarah have worked tirelessly to create a transformative experience that is built upon the eternal truth of the Gospel and that is applicable to 21st century girls.

It was a joy to support the Manners & Modesty program because of my confidence in those who were curating and teaching the material. The teacher is a critical piece when considering whether the content will be handled well with any audience. In my time with Karen and Sarah, I was able to see how much their desire to equip students was fueled by a desire to see them grow into godly young women. The workshops met current needs and prepared students to continue growing in maturity.

“You are unique but also a special member in the body of Christ.” This sentence from the Manners & Modesty Program encapsulates what we wanted our daughter to learn from these lessons. The culture of our age focuses on the differences between people, separates us into groups, and tells young people to find their self-esteem in radical individualism. These messages seem to result in isolation, antagonism, shamelessness and disrespect for others. The Modesty and Manners curriculum starts with the question: “What does it look like to be a ’Sister in Christ’?” and focuses girls’ attention on what they share, what makes them family, how to belong to a group and to invite others into it. “Manners” and “etiquette” are not a secret language meant to exclude those who don’t “know the password” They are meant to show respect for one other and to demonstrate interest in our fellow human beings. And these social graces - the art of conversation and the ability to empathize with and welcome others - do not come naturally. Our daughter needs to be taught these lessons, just as she needs to be taught everything else in life! We were so grateful to have the Manners & Modesty curriculum to teach her these lessons in an intentional and Christ-centered way.

The Manners & Modesty curriculum teaches young ladies that they are beautiful image-bearers of Christ. The testimonials and interactive lessons taught my daughter and her friends some foundational principles for their faith. By weaving in Scripture throughout the lessons, they came away knowing who they are in Christ and how that shapes their behavior, attitudes and conversation. I highly recommend this for anyone with pre-teen or teen daughters!

What really struck me about M&M was how much girls need to hear this message in our world right now. Girls are told so many lies about what society expects from them, but M&M provides them with truth rooted in Jesus Christ upon which they are able to recognize their true identity which lies within the unwavering and unshakeable heart of their Savior.

Manners and Modesty truly brings to fruition its core mission to deposit the truth of the Word of God into young girls through Christ-centered mentorship, cultivation of the fruits of the Spirit, and biblical teaching on identity and value in Jesus. This ministry seeks to pour out the truth of Scripture into the hearts of young girls in order to see transformation in their minds and perspectives that align with the will of Heaven for their lives. It is a place where the daughters of God get to pursue Him honestly alongside each other growing in discipleship and sisterhood. I am grateful to have witnessed these girls grow in their understanding of biblical sisterhood and the calling of God over their lives. I am excited to see how this ministry continues to encourage and uplift young girls in the plans and purposes of Jesus Christ.

Throughout my spiritual walk, I have truly seen the importance of older women coming alongside me and nurturing my spiritual growth, and this is exactly what I saw taking place at ‘Manners and Modesty.’ It was so beneficial to my soul to see young girls pursuing their relationship with Christ, and it truly impacted my heart to see how my words can encourage other young girls. I remember the struggles of fourth grade like it was yesterday, and I am so thankful that these young girls are being able to be poured into at such an impactful time in their lives. ‘Manners and Modesty’ is such a wonderful and beneficial tool that I wish I had when I was younger.

Biblical femininity is not a popular topic, as the world seeks to throw off all God-ordained roles. Now, more than ever, we need our daughters to understand and embrace God’s will for them as women. Manners & Modesty seeks to bring God’s word to bear on important topics in a young girl’s life before habits and mindsets are solidified. I appreciated how the things we were teaching at home were being reinforced so intentionally in the context of friends and fun. The course was more than just sitting through a lesson, and the multi-faceted approach brought the content home in greater force. It’s encouraging to know that other moms value the same growth in their daughters; now, as our girls grow, we have a common point of reference as we navigate childrearing in the middle school years.

It’s so important for girls to grow up hearing the message that they have immense worth and dignity and that finding their identities in Christ is the greatest thing of all.
